In a bid to impress the selectors for a Test berth, Inzamam-ul-Haq is hoping for a stint in county cricket in England besides targeting the coming domestic season to prolong his career.
Inzamam, who retired from one-day cricket after leading Pakistan in a disastrous World Cup campaign, said he was negotiating with clubs in England through his agent.
"South Africa will tour Pakistan from September 25 to play a Test series while we tour India for three Tests in November," said Inzamam. "Then the Australians are also coming to Pakistan early next year. I am keen to play in the Test team in these matches as they are all against good sides.
"I have retired from one-dayers because it is better if the selectors gave a younger player a chance to establish himself. But I still enjoy playing cricket and Test matches are a real challenge."
Inzamam, who has over 20,000 runs in both forms of the game said he would try to prove his fitness and form by playing in league and domestic cricket.
"The rest is up to the selectors," he added. "I want to play Test cricket that is why I am aiming to play domestic cricket to keep myself fit and in form."
