VVS Laxman has denied reports that he withdrew from South Zone Ranji Trophy one-day tournament because of his non-selection for the World Cup. "My withdrawal has got nothing to do with me not being included in the World Cup," Laxman told Hindustan Times."It was for personal reasons that I had to skip the remainder of the tournament."
He confirmed his interest and availability for the Deodhar Trophy tournament, beginning on February 24. "I scored two sixties [61 and 65 against Goa and Tamil Nadu respectively] in my first two matches. I am definitely available for the Deodhar Trophy and will certainly play, if picked," he said.
On his exclusion from the World Cup squad, Laxman admitted being disappointed but said he will continue playing the domestic tournaments and push for a place. "I do not want to brood over the fact that I have been omitted. I want to keep concentrating on the domestic tournaments and be available for selection.
"I want to perform whenever I get the opportunity to represent the country again. Of course, it is a little disappointing not to be going for the world Cup. I wish the team all the best and am sure they will have a very good World Cup."
