Graeme Hick is hoping to make a return for Worcestershire this weekend after missing more than a month of the season with a broken hand.
He will resume training this week with a view to playing in the National League match against Leicestershire at Oakham on Sunday. Hick broke his hand against Glamorgan on June 8 and joined an increasing list of injuries for Worcestershire.
Tom Moody, the director of cricket, said: "He looks like he is a step closer to being able to return, and on Sunday against Leicestershire we could have five players coming back."
"Vikram Solanki, Kabir Ali and Andrew Hall will be available if the NatWest final between England and South Africa does not go into a second day and also Hicky and Nantie Hayward should be back after injury." He added: "To have five first-teamers out is a big chunk of your side and hopefully they are all fit and ready to go on Sunday."
Worcestershire are currently 14 points clear at the top of Division Two of the Frizzell County Championship, but slipped to eighth in the National League after their loss to Warwickshire.
