England A squad to tour West Indies this winter:
MW Alleyne (Gloucestershire, capt), JP Crawley (Lancashire, vice-capt), IJ Ward (Surrey), VS Solanki (Worcestershire), U Afzaal (Nottinghamshire), A Habib (Leicestershire), DJG Sales (Northamptonshire), CMW Read (Nottinghamshire, wkt), JS Foster (Essex, wkt), PJ Franks (Nottinghamshire), AJ Tudor (Surrey), CEW Silverwood (Yorkshire), RJ Sidebottom (Yorkshire), SJ Harmison (Durham), JF Brown (Northamptonshire), CP Schofield (Lancashire).
Marl Alleyne has retained the A Tour captaincy. In a strong looking squad with a fair amount of international experience the new names are Northamptonshire's off spinner, Jason Brown, 20 year old Essex 'keeper James Foster and Rawalpindi born left hander Usman Afzaal, 23.
Surrey pair Mark Butcher and Adam Hollioake will count themselves particularly unlucky. The chance for rehabilitation has instead gone to John Crawley, perhaps with an eye to his being on standby for the Pakistan and Sri Lanka tours. Spin is expected to be a vital factor on the sub continent, and Crawley is widely regarded as one of the best players of spin in the country.
