Campbell became the third Zimbabwean after Andy Flower and Grant Flower to do so. He became only the second batsman in Test history to reach this milestone without ever scoring a century. The only other batsman to do so is India's Chetan Chauhan who aggregated 2084 runs in 40 Tests and 68 innings with 16 fifties and a highest of 97.
  • The third wicket partnership of 119 runs between Stuart Carlisle and Campbell is Zimbabwe's best for this wicket against India. This obliterates the previous record stand of 77 between Kevin Arnott and Andy Pycroft at Harare in 1992-93.
  • Andy Flower's innings (183*) is the highest for Zimbabwe against India. This obliterates Dave Houghton's 121 at Harare in 1992-93.
  • Flower's innings is the fifth highest for Zimbabwe in all Tests and the highest in an overseas Test. The previous highest was Murray Goodwin's 148* against England at Nottingham in 2000.
  • The hundred was Flower's seventh as keeper. He now holds the record of scoring most hundreds in this role jointly with England's Les Ames.
  • The seventh wicket partnership of 34 runs between Andy Flower and Paul Strang is a new record for Zimbabwe against India supplanting the 28 run-partnership between Gary Crocker and Dave Houghton at Harare in 1992-93.
  • The eighth wicket partnership of 46 runs between Andy Flower and Brian Murphy is Zimbabwe's best for this wicket against India beating the 31 run-partnership between Andy Flower and Heath Streak at Harare in 1992-93.
  • The tenth wicket unbroken partnership of 97 runs between Andy Flower and Henry Olonga is Zimbabwe's best for this wicket against all countries putting into shade the 54 run-partnership between Stuart Carlisle and Olonga against West Indies at Kingston in 1999-00. Incidentally the previous record tenth wicket stand for Zimbabwe against India was paltry 13 run partnership between Andy Flower and John Traicos at Delhi in 1992-93.
  • The partnership is also the third highest for this wicket against India after the 104 run stand between Zulfiqar Ahmed and Amir Elahi for Pakistan at Chennai in 1952-53 and 98 run (unbroken) stand between Frank Worrell and Wesley Hall at Port-of-Spain in 1961-62.
  • Rahul Dravid (200*) became 13th Indian to score a multiple hundred in Test cricket Dravid also provided the 19th instance of a multiple hundred being made for India. Dravid's previous personal best was 190 against New Zealand at Hamilton in 1998-99.
  • Dravid also became the second Indian after Vinod Kambli (227 at Delhi in 1992-93) and only the fifth batsman to score a multiple hundred against Zimbabwe.
  • Dravid, on 110, completed his 3000 Test runs. He became the 13th Indian joining the ranks of Sunil Gavaskar (10122 runs in 125 Tests), Dilip Vengsarkar (6868 in 116), Mohammad Azharuddin (6215 in 99), Sachin Tendulkar (6176 runs in 78 ), Gundappa Viswanath (6080 in 91), Kapil Dev (5248 in 131), Mohinder Amarnath (4378 in 69), Ravi Shastri (3830 in 80), Polly Umrigar (3631 in 59), Vijay Manjrekar (3208 in 55 ), Navjot Sidhu (3202 in 51) and Chandu Borde (3061 in 55 ) and 110th batsman overall to reach this milestone.
  • Dravid needed only 39 Tests and 67 innings to complete his 3000 runs. Among the Indians only Sunil Gavaskar has completed 3000 runs in a career in lesser Tests - 34 to be precise. In terms of least innings Dravid also is the third joint quickest among Indians after Azharuddin (64), Gavaskar (66) and alongwith Sachin Tendulkar. The world record is held by Australia's Don Bradman. Bradman took only only 23 matches and 33 innings to complete his 3000 runs.
  • Sachin Tendulkar (122) scored his 23rd hundred and first against Zimbabwe. His previous best against Zimbabwe was 62 also at Delhi in 1992-93. Tendulkar thus moved ahead of Mohammad Azharuddin who has scored 22 hundreds in 99 Tests. Only Sunil Gavaskar (34) have scored more hundreds for India. In all time list of leading centurions Tendulkar is now jointly placed sixth with Pakistan's Javed Miandad after India's Sunil Gavaskar (34 in 125), Australia's Don Bradman (29 in 52), Allan Border (27 in 156), West Indian Gary Sobers (26 in 93), Australia's Greg Chappell (24 in 87) and West Indian Viv Richards (24 in 121).
  • It was Tendulkar's first hundred at Feroz Shah Kotla. Tendulkar has now scored 10 hundreds on seven different venues in India. He has now scored hundreds on 19 centres in all - home or away. He has now equalled Sunil Gavaskar's Indian record of scoring hundreds on most Test centres.
  • The hundred was tenth for Tendulkar in home matches in just 33 Tests. With this he has equalled Gundappa Viswanath's tally of hundreds on Indian soil. Now only Sunil Gavaskar (16), Dilip Vengsarkar (13) and Mohammad Azharuddin (13) have scored more hundreds in India than Tendulkar.
  • The third wicket partnership of 213 runs between Dravid and Tendulkar is India's best for this wicket against Zimbabwe. This obliterates the previous record stand of 137 between Vinod Kambli and Tendulkar in India's first innings of Delhi Test in 1992-93.
  • The partnership is also the highest for third wicket against Zimbabwe. This supercedes the 140 run partnership between Marvan Atapattu and Aravinda de Silva for Sri Lanka at Kandy in 1997-98.
  • Grant Flower bagged a pair in the Test. It was the second time when such humiliation fell on Grant Flower. He recorded his first pair against Pakistan at Rawalpindi in 1993-94. Grant Flower became third Zimbabwean to suffer this fate on more than one occasion. Others to do so are: Adam Huckle and Mpumelelo Mbangwa. It was also the second instance of a Zimbabwean batsman bagging a pair against India after David Brain (at Delhi in 1992-93).
  • Grant Flower also became 23rd batsman overall to bag a pair against India on 25th occasion. Just for the record, Sri Lankan Marvan Atapattu and New Zealander Paul Wiseman have done so on two occasions each.
  • With two ducks in this Test, Grant Flower has extended his tally of ducks to 12 in 45 Tests. He now holds the dubious distinction of aggregating most ducks in a career for Zimbabwe surging ahead of Heath Streak who has cumulated 11 ducks in 34 Tests.
  • The fifth wicket partnership of 62 runs (in second innings) between Andy Flower and Guy Whittall is Zimbabwe's best for this wicket against India. This obliterates the previous highest of 53 between Dave Houghton and Andy Pycroft at Harare in 1992-93.
  • Andy Flower top scored in both innings for Zimbabwe. It was the second such instance by a Zimbabwean batsman against India. Interestingly Flower himself was involved in first such intance as he had made 115 (out of 322) and 62*(out of 201) also at Delhi in 1992-93. Overall it was the fifth such instance for Andy Flower. He has now equalled India's Sunil Gavaskar's record tally of such instances.
  • Javagal Srinath's second innings figures (5 for 60) are the best for India against Zimbabwe beating Anil Kumble's 5 for 60 also at this venue in 1992-93.
  • Srinath's match figures of nine for 141 are the best for India against Zimbabwe. This obliterates Anil Kumble's 8 for 160 in the above mentioned match.
  • The fourth wicket unbroken partnership of 110 runs (in second innings) between Dravid and Saurav Ganguly is India's best for this wicket against Zimbabwe surpassing the 107 run-partnership between Vinod Kambli and Mohammad Azharuddin at Delhi in 1992-93.
  • Tendulkar now holds the Indian record of aggregating most runs after 124 innings. The previous record was on the name of Sunil Gavaskar who had a tally of 6185 runs after 124 innings. Gavaskar, however, is way ahead of Tendulkar in terms of performance after 78 Tests having made 6792 runs. But it must be noted that Gavaskar had played 137 innings as against Tendulkar's 124 in his 78 Tests.
  • Sachin Tendlkar's career aggregate after this match stands as 6215 in 78 matches (124 innings). He thus went past Gundappa Viswanath's aggregate of 6080 runs and equalled Mohammad Azharuddin's run-aggregate. Now only Sunil Gavaskar with 10122 runs in 125 matches and Dilip Vengsarkar (6868 runs in 116 matches) are ahead of Tendulkar.
  • Dravid's match aggregate of 270 (200* and 70*) is the highest by a batsman against Zimbabwe beating Pakistan's Wasim Akram's 257 in the Sheikhupura Test in 1996-97. The previous record for India was in the name of Vinod Kambli with 227 also at Delhi in 1992-93. Incidentally the aggregate is the fifth highest for India after Sunil Gavaskar's 344 (124 & 220 v West Indies at Port-of-Spain in 1970-71), Dravid's 293 (190 and 103* v New Zealand at Hamilton in 1998-99) and Sunil Gavaskar's 289 (107 & 182* v West Indies at Calcutta in 1978-79) and 278 (205 and 73 v West Indies at Mumbai in 1978-79).
  • Zimbabwe's defeat presented the 16th instance of a team scoring 400 plus runs in the first innings of a Test and yet losing the Test. However it was only the third time that a team lost a Test despite making a declaration in the first innings after compiling a total of 400 plus. Interestingly India has now won back to back Tests with opponents making 400 or more runs in first innings of the Test. Bangladesh had made 400 at Dhaka just about a week ago.
  • The victory target of 190 runs is the fourth highest that India has successfully chased. India holds the distinction of making the highest score in the fourth innings of a Test match in Test chronicles. India had made 406 for the loss of just four wickets chasing a target of 402 against West Indies at Port-of-Spain in 1970-71. The second highest target was 253 against Australia at Mumbai in 1964-65 followed by 199 against New Zealand at Dunedin in 1967-68.
  • The scoring rate (runs per 100 balls) of 84.44 in the second innings is the highest for India in an innings of 175 or more runs. The previous record for India was 79.55 (249 for 2 in 52.1 overs) against New Zealand at Hamilton in 1998-99. Just for the record, Australia holds the top position with a scoring rate of 96.73 (296 in 51 overs) against South Africa at Johannesburg in 1902-03.
  • Ganguly has now won his first two Tests as skipperonly second Indian to do so after Sachin Tendulkar who won Delhi Test against Australia in 1996-97 by seven wickets and followed it up with a 64 run victory over South Africa at Ahmedabad in 1996-97.
  • It was India's 63rd win in 335 Test matches.
  • It was India's 49th win in 178 Test matches on home soil.
  • It was Zimbabwe's 25th loss in 46 Test matches.
  • It was Zimbabwe's 15th loss in 22 Test matches abroad.
