  • Ricky Ponting was playing his 100th match.He became 13th Australian and 100th player overall to do so.
  • Robin Singh,on 36,completed his 2000 runs in ODIs in his 114th match (94th innings).He became 13th Indian and 84th batsman overall to do so.At 36 years and 138 days,Robin became the second oldest to reach this milestone after fellow Indian Sunil Gavaskar who completed his 2000 runs at the age of 36 years and 277 days.
  • The partnership of 73 runs between Robin Singh and Sameer Dighe is India's best for sixth wicket against Australia on Australian soil. This obliterated the previous record stand of 68 runs between Praveen Amre and Kapil Dev at Perth on 08-12-1991. However the highest stand for sixth wicket for India on Australian soil still remains as 87 (unbroken) between Kapil Dev and Ravi Shastri against NewZealand at Brisbane on 11-01-1986.
  • Australia registered its seventh consecutive win over India which is its best run against India. Australia had won six consecutive matches against India from Hobart, 10-12-1991 to Brisbane, 01-03-1992.
  • The victory was Australia's seventh consecutive in ODIs. Infact Australia has lost only two matches out of the last 23.
  • Sachin Tendulkar has now led India in 73 matches,won 23, lost 43, tied one and abandoned 6 - a winning percentage of only 31.51 ! Among all the players who have captained their respective sides in 50 or more matches,only Sri Lankan Duleep Mendis has a worse winning percentage - 18.03 (winning 11 matches out of a total of 61).
  • India has now played a total of 433 matches,won 194,lost 218,tied 3 and abandoned 18. On Australian soil, Indian record now reads as : played 50,won 18,lost 30,tied one and abandoned one.
  • Michael Bevan won MoM award for the sixth time in his career.
