Dave lights up a damp day
The player of the day should have been the rain. On a day when
three matches out of four were abandoned without a ball being
bowled and the other match was first shortened and then abandoned
due to rain, there was no more decisive factor. Even within this
highly restrictive framework, Anup Dave managed to turn out a
clinical performance. His display of left arm orthodox bowling
took the inexperienced Dutch by surprise.
In a seven over unbroken spell that just cost seven runs, Dave
crippled the middle order, knocking out three key players. In
his second and third overs, Dave accounted for both the steady
B Postma and Adeel Raja. It was his clever variation of flight
coupled with the sharp turn that troubled the batsmen. If he
keeps up the same attitude, Dave will make batting difficult
for any side. His figures of 7-3-7-3 are testimony to that.
