swept, out to deep square, and that is that
ENG Women vs PAK Women, 3rd T20I at Leeds, ENG v PAK (W), May 19 2024 - Match Result
4.18pm So, with that, Heather Knight heads over to lift the trophy with her team, and now it's onto the ODIs... not a format England have played much of late. A decent performance, a solid result. Anything less than 3-0 would have been eyebrow-raising for the hosts, but they got better with every outing, certainly with the bat. From Miller, Alan and Binoy, farewell!
4.11pm Unsurprisingly, Danni Wyatt is Player of the Match. "Really like batting at Headingley, crowd were amazing, had fun out there. A bit slow, just kept my intent, run well and hit to my strengths. I hate failing but opening in T20 you have to ride the wave and keep my intent which is when I play my best. Started to think of my hundred, I shouldn't have, should have just kept aiming for the pockets. Enjoyed fielding all my career but credit to coach Nick."
Amy Jones is Player of the Series: "Very important starting a new summer at home, happy to have contributed. I've spent a bit of time on the mental game, focus on one ball at a time. The mind can wander on different shots. But it's all about the ball not the situation. A chance every ball that comes my way with the world-class spin line-up we've got."
Nida Dar: "Improvement in the batting side, senior players took responsibility. If you push to the spaces you have runs. Diana Baig has been a key player, puts in the energy to do something for Pakistan."
Heather Knight: "Danni was due, always close to a big score, and makes the most of it when she comes in. Performances from lots of people. Pakistan have put us under pressure, it's good for us, we've stayed calm, wrestled back momentum when we've needed to. FIler adds a point of difference, and can rush the batters. Working hard behind the scenes so pleased she bowled some quick pace. We're tracking really well, can get better, but moving forward as a side."
4.02pm So there it is. England win by 34 runs without any real jeopardy. Danni Wyatt's thumping innings of 87 from 48 was the difference between the sides, although so too was some of Pakistan's fielding. A few early chances and who knows. In reply they fought hard, particularly in the powerplay from Feroza and Ameen, but when both fell in the space of three balls, so did their challenge. Nida and Aliya ensured they bowed out of the series with respect, if not a consolation win.
