Asia Cup - Final

Bangladesh v Pakistan

Pakistan won by 2 runs

We are set for the start. Mashrafe Mortaza has the ball. One slip in place. here we go. Hafeez on strike.

Sharmin: "I don't think the improvement of Bangladesh is about BPL. I think it's more that the entire team is playing as one, with everyone contributing. While being a big fan of Shakib, we cannot only depend on him, the rest have to do their bit for a match win." Well, this has been a team effort so far, what a find Nasir Hossain has been.

Bilal: "Bangladesh's bowling has been very disciplined this series. Despite the fact they've bowled first the entire tournament they haven't let the opposition get to large totals. Even India's 289 was very achieveable. Pakistan really need to bat out today."

Isaac Peter: "I do agree with Bangladesh's Skipper, Pakistani team will be under pressure and Bangladesh seems to be confident after having two great victories. BPL helped Bangladeshi players and they improved a lot."

Zafran: "Pakistan should play this match with full consideration, if the opening gave a good start, then Misbah should be take Afridi for a quick and large total. its not a simple match and they should not take it easy."

Sunny: "Bangladesh Premier League helps a lot to the bangladeshi players... Their attitude towards ODI's changes and most of the players improve their performances positively..."

Asif: "I was really hoping misbah would've picked Abdur rehman instead of cheema he's a better bowler. can control runs a lot better and can also grab a wicket or two. While cheema has been a little off lately he gives away way too many runs.I think he just can pressurize the opposition like abur rehman can."

Toss: Bangladesh have won the toss, huge cheers, and have unsurprisingly decided to bowl. They are fielding the same team, Mushfiqur says Pakistan will be under pressure since they're playing Bangladesh in the final for the first time. Sarfraz Ahmed comes back for Wahab Riaz, that's the only change for Pakistan.

There's tremendous interest around the world for this match, the Bangladeshi diaspora is well spread out. Sunil Gavaskar on the pitch report says the track is the same as the one used in the game between India and Pakistan, where India chased down 320-odd. Plenty of runs in this, but Gavaskar reckons that this, being a pressure game, may not produce such monumental scores.

It's possibly Bangladesh's biggest tournament final. They won the ICC Trophy in 1997 and then made it to the final of a home tri-series against Sri Lanka in 2009. But, if they win this, it'll be their biggest win in ODIs, arguably. Hello and welcome to a special occasion, folks. The whole of Bangladesh will be tuned in for this game. Their team has fought hard and beat India and Sri Lanka to make it this far. Can they go past Pakistan? Expect a great atmosphere at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, and do read the preview for this big clash. The toss will take place in another 15 mins.

Will Sarfraz Ahmed's contribution make a difference in the outcome? It remains to be seen but it's been a valuable innings with his team in trouble. Pakistan have managed 236 after Bangladesh put in a spirited performance. The hosts will feel they should have restricted Pakistan to a score much lower than this. It's been a good performance barring some difficult moments - the last over went for 19 - and they will back themselves to chase this down. But the pressure of a tournament final is of a different order. How will they cope? Join us in another 20-odd minutes for the chase. See you then. In the meantime, you can read Abhishek Purohit's report here, it's getting updated.
