Tim Paine continued his fine week in the west when he collected 84 to set Tasmania up for a 43-run victory in the Ford Ranger Cup game against the Warriors at the WACA. After posting a double-century and a half-century in the Pura Cup win, Paine produced another strong effort to push his side towards 8 for 264.
Western Australia relied mostly on Ben Edmondson and Steve Magoffin, who both picked up two wickets, with the ball, but the target remained out of reach during the chase despite the efforts of Luke Ronchi and Justin Langer. Ronchi has been opening instead of Langer and he picked up 66 from 62 balls while Langer, batting at No. 6, provided a bursting innings of his own with 71 from 63 deliveries.
However, the Warriors fell well short and were dismantled by a combination of Xavier Doherty's three wickets and two to Luke Butterworth, Brett Geeves and Ben Hilfenhaus.
