Scorecard
Chris Rogers' century led Victoria to a seven-wicket win over Western Australia that pushed them into a three-way lead of the Sheffield Shield. The Bushrangers, who have played a game less than Queensland and South Australia, recovered from a 31-run deficit on first innings to upset the visitors as they charged down their target of 259 to move to eight points.
While Phillip Hughes was a big-name omission from the Test squad, Rogers was missing from the line-up again despite an outstanding run in state and county cricket over the past couple of years. He scored 149 in Victoria's opening Shield game and backed up with a double of 29 and 110 at the MCG.
Rogers and Nick Jewell put on 115 for the first wicket before Jewell departed for 57 and Victoria's only problem came when it rained after lunch. However, the clouds cleared and Rogers and David Hussey almost made it to the finish.
Hussey was lbw to Marcus North on 66 and Rogers' stay ended when he fell to Adam Voges with ten more needed. Western Australia, who have four points, were without the fast bowler Ashley Noffke, who injured his ankle during the game.
