Marcus Harris led Western Australia to 7 for 327 but was the beneficiary of two dropped catches by South Australia on day one of the Sheffield Shield match in Perth.
Michael Klinger dropped Harris in the slips on six, then the wicketkeeper Tim Ludeman turfed the left-hander on 51. These lapses allowed Harris to build WA's innings after the hosts had slipped to 3 for 60.
Harris' innings was his second first-class hundred, after he made 157 against Queensland as an 18-year-old in March 2011. He has struggled for consistency since then.
He had support from the allrounder Mitchell Marsh who made an unbeaten half-century, while Nathan Coulter-Nile hit out late in the day for 52.
