Harris hundred steadies WA

ESPNcricinfo staff

Western Australia 7 for 327 (Harris 114, Coulter-Nile 52, Marsh 51*) v South Australia

Marcus Harris led Western Australia to 7 for 327 but was the beneficiary of two dropped catches by South Australia on day one of the Sheffield Shield match in Perth.

Michael Klinger dropped Harris in the slips on six, then the wicketkeeper Tim Ludeman turfed the left-hander on 51. These lapses allowed Harris to build WA's innings after the hosts had slipped to 3 for 60.

Harris' innings was his second first-class hundred, after he made 157 against Queensland as an 18-year-old in March 2011. He has struggled for consistency since then.

He had support from the allrounder Mitchell Marsh who made an unbeaten half-century, while Nathan Coulter-Nile hit out late in the day for 52.

@Wozza-CY on (November 13 2012, 10:46 AM GMT) - it is odd, George & Putland are playing in the Futures League against NSW, (along with Cullen Bailey who I rate highly). I think I'd back Sth Oz's Future League bowling attack against the Shield attack!!!!! Then there is Kane left right out!

Echoing others, an attack of Richardson, George, Mennie (or for some left arm variety, Mr.Mini Golf himself...Puttland) with Botha as your spinner & Christian as the fourth seaming-all rounder looks like a pretty handy attack to me? Not so to Mr.Berry it seems??

As others have mentioned, dunno what the go is with Ricahrdson & George? I wonder if Kane is being rested as he is only 21? He was in the squad, surely he could of at least got another gig at 1st drop? Sayers & Mennie are good, but Haberfield?

It's alright Viv. You can bet the Warriors will be kind as regards dropped catches just like the Redbacks. Both teams are mediocre in the field with the honourable exceptions of Dan Christian and Nathan Coulter-Nile.

Where is Peter George, he is SA's best fast bowler

Typical. As usual Redbacks ruin a good start. And by the way, why isn't Kane Richardson playing?
