Scorecard

Adam Voges made the first double-century of his first-class career, and the highest score ever by a Western Australia captain, but his declaration late on the fourth day led to a draw from which Queensland took first-innings points. The final day was always going to be a delicate balancing act for Western Australia, for they began the morning only 35 runs in front and were reluctant to set the Bulls a target that would prove too easy.

In the end, Voges declared in the over before tea, with the Western Australia lead sitting on exactly 300, but Queensland were not tempted to go for the runs from the 41 overs they could have batted. They finished on 2 for 81 when the match was called off, Usman Khawaja on 16 and Chris Lynn on 10. Luke Pomersbach top scored with 40 from 42 balls and Ashton Agar collected 2 for 22.

But the day was all about Voges and his unbeaten 235, which easily eclipsed his previous highest score of 180, which he scored against Tasmania at Bellerive Oval six years ago almost to the day. It was also the top score by a Western Australian captain, surpassing the 234 not out made by Ken Meuleman against South Australia in 1956-57.

He struck 31 fours in his 322-ball innings, with support from Shaun Marsh, who made 47, Mitchell Marsh (27) and then Sam Whiteman, who was unbeaten on 74 when the belated declaration arrived. It was Whiteman's fourth half-century of the Sheffield Shield season.

I'll be keeping an eye on Whiteman as well as I know very little about him. Interesting to note that he also qualifies to play for England being born in Yorkshire. I hope CA get their act together with him early.

Whiteman should be the Keeper once Haddin retires in a year or so ! He is terrific with the gloves and has performed amazingly well with the bat in the longer formats at 7 !

Great to see adam doing well but a boring piece of captaincy not to declare earlier , would have been an exciting afternoons cricket ! Sam white man will play a hundred tests for Australia! He is next in line keeper for the test team easily
