Sporting Showcase of Elite Australian Athletes

ACT Cricket

A showcase of Australia's most talented athletes will gather in Canberra on April 19, to partake in the Celebrity Cricket Match, which is a fixture of the inaugural Prime Minister's XI versus the ATSIC Chairman's XI. Some of our well known sporting heroes will participate in the celebrity game, proudly sponsored by IPEX, and will be played during the luncheon interval.

Taking time out from their hectic sporting schedule, the athletes have combined their skills to play Australia's great summer game, cricket. Today we are pleased to announce some of the celebrities who will be involved on the day.

  • Anthony Mundine
  • Nova Peris Kneebone
  • Kyle Vander Kuyp
  • Tony Lockett
  • Nicky Winmar
  • Steve Roach
  • Michael Klim
  • Jai Taurima
  • Belinda Clark
  • Rohan Robinson
  • Hamish McDonald
  • Petria Thomas

The Celebrity Match will feature two innings' of ten overs each, and will a follow a Super 8's cricket format. Each player will bat and bowl, and batsmen cannot be dismissed, they simply lose runs from the overall total.

The Celebrity Match is part of the Prime Minister's XI versus ATSIC Chairman's XI, a symbol of national goodwill and unity towards reconciliation. It will also commemorate the first Australian Cricket Team - an Aboriginal Eleven - to travel to England in 1868. It will be a fun and exciting day for all.
