Barisal Burners beat Chittagong Kings easily in Mirpur thanks to a half-century from Brad Hodge and three wickets from Yasir Arafat.

It was a match Chittagong started brightly. The openers got them off to a flier, putting together 51 runs in just 3.5 overs. Ziaur Rahman was dismissed for 24 off 13 balls but England's Jason Roy carried on, and got 42 off 25 balls. Chittagong had the base to go on and get a big total, but their middle and lower order collapsed. Left-arm spinner Nazmul Islam started the slide, dismissing Roy and Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor. Then Pakistan's Yasir Arafat took three wickets to rip through the Chittagong middle order. None of Chittagong's last six batsmen got into double figures, and they went from 123 for 3 to 150 for 9.

Barisal looked keen to make short work of the chase, and the openers raced to 109 inside 10 overs. Ahmed Shehzad fell for 43 off 30 balls, and Brad Hodge followed, after scoring 67 off just 36 balls with eight fours and three sixes. A flurry of wickets followed but the opening pair had done enough to ensure Barisal got home in just 15 overs.

Barisal back in. . by kind of semi-logical interpretaton of the law for BPL: "When three or more teams finish with equal points and equal wins in the league, then the team(s) which was (were) the winner of the most number of matches played between those equal teams in the league will be placed in the higher position(s). If after applying this criterion there are any teams which are still equal then such equal teams shall be ranked according to their net run rate in the league. If following the net run rate calculation above there are teams which are still equal, then the team with the higher number of wickets taken per ball bowled in the league in which results were achieved will be placed in the higher position. In the highly unlikely event the teams cannot be separated by the above this will be done by drawing lots." - The same law that make Chittagong 4th before, now makes Barisal 4th and Chittagong (Chiita)gone:). Excuse the pun - couldn't help it.

They are in now. Chittagong is out of the tournery. It was all BCB's fault to make unbelievable rules to declare the semifinalist and now they have ruined the reputaion of BPL as well as BCB.

This is reticules to see Barisal being out of the tournament after being told that they have to beat in 16 overs to qualify. What a mess by BPL authority... shame on them...

why barisal not concluded in seemio final

Posted by   on (February 27, 2012, 18:58 GMT)

Itz really confusing as yesterday tv news & commentators both mentiond that Barisal has reached to Semi, even in todays newspapers told the same as "DR & BB have reached to semi.... ". But how it changed. i understand that CK is ahead by HtoH, vut why it didnt mention yesterday. Itz confusing!!

they didn't make the semis.

It seems as if Gayle had played this game. Hodge accelerated the chasing like Gayle. But no doubt Burners will feel the absence of Gayle in Semi more than last 5 matches.

chittagong kings deserved that punishment from Burners for being so complacent in the fielding and bowling!!! Mahmudullah displayed a horrible captaincy letting the pacers to continue bowling, despite bulldozed by the opening pair!!!
