England A 327 for 4 (Compton 152*, Prior 82*, Jefferson 58) v BCB Academy

England A's first day of action in Bangladesh was a productive affair as Nick Compton's unbeaten 152 led them to 327 for 4 against the Cricket Board Academy side at Mirpur.

The England squad is down to just 12 players after Amjad Khan's withdrawal with a knee injury, but that should at least mean plenty of middle time for the remaining members.

Compton took his chance to stake an early claim for a spot for the four-day games against Bangladesh and showed why the selectors named him for this trip ahead of the likes of Owais Shah and Robert Key. However, the middle order of Michael Yardy (16), Michael Carberry (7) and Alex Loudon (0) all failed.

But Compton was well supported early on by Will Jefferson who hit 58 and later by Matt Prior, who ended the day unbeaten with Compton on 82.
