East Zone pip Central Zone in thriller

East Zone beat Central Zone by three wickets in a dramatic BCL game in Chittagong. In fading light on the final day, they chased down 224 in 30.5 overs.

Shadman Islam and Nafees Iqbal struck quick fifties before Rajin Saleh and Tasamul Haque completed the chase. Shadman made 78 off 67 balls, after having made 49 in the first innings, earning him the Man-of-the-Match award.

Central Zone were bowled out for 179 in the first innings, to which East Zone replied with 304. Elias Sunny, the Central Zone left-arm spinner, took seven wickets.

Trailing by 125, Central Zone posted 348 for 9 in 136.4 overs with Raqibul Hasan and Sharifullah hitting fifties. They declared in the second session of the final day, after which the East Zone batsmen had to work out a magical chase.
