An offspinner and genuine No. 11, Rowland Shaddick played four Championship matches for Middlesex immediately after World War Two, but the bulk of his first-class cricket was for Free Foresters and MCC. No fewer than 32 of his 49 wickets came against Oxford or Cambridge, including a career-best 5 for 34 in 1952. He played club cricket for Southgate and also turned out for Cross Arrows.
