Sunrisers v Brisbane Heat, CLT20, Ahmedabad September 30, 2013

Sunrisers eliminated after washout

Brisbane Heat v Sunrisers Hyderabad - Match abandoned without a ball bowled

The match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Brisbane Heat was abandoned without a ball being bowled in Ahmedabad. This puts Sunrisers out of the Champions League after they finished with six points from four matches, winning once and losing twice. This was the third washout in Motera, after the double-header on September 23 took the same route due to rain.

Heat were already knocked out having lost their first three matches. This leaves the Titans and Trinidad & Tobago battling for the second position in Group B behind Chennai Super Kings who have already qualified. All T&T need to do is not lose by a great margin against Super Kings in their final group match.

The match scheduled for an 8:30pm start couldn't go through after heavy rain began during the first match between T&T and Titans. That match ended with three overs to spare, the Caribbean side winning by six runs by the Duckworth/Lewis method.

The two matches were retained in Ahmedabad, after an earlier game was moved out of the city due to week-long rains. Though there was 60% chance of rain today, the first game was uninterrupted until rain struck 17 overs into Titans' chase.

With the current points table of group B, SRH was put into disadvantageous situation by the organizers. If they would have won against heat closer to same margin as CSK (all possibilities were there considering SRH bowling/fielding unit and capable hitters).. similar to we are talking about MI's chances...

bad luck SRH. Get into strong position next time around... both in IPL and then on to CLT20.

Sunrise were anyways the weakest of the IPL teams to play in the CLT20. Next to go will be Mumbai Indian, if they do not get their act right. One thing is clear, as long as CLT20 is held in India, the top 3 teams of the IPL will be made to play in the league. Watching the Aussie teams perform at the CLT20, it looks like their talent is drying up.

@ JustIPL , agreed to what you said that the weather is a part of the game , and it should had remain the same for all the teams participating in the current C.L. , No match should have been shifted from ahmadabad at all, i think , by shifting just one match , the organizers showed that they wanted result only in that one particular match that was played between M.I. and the LIONS, and they had no interest with the results of other matches being played in ahmadabad . so ,this was wrong.either , the organizers should have shifted all the matches from ahmadabad , or should have not shifted any match from there. i think ,had that match not shifted from ahmadabad , the M.I. too would have been out of the C.L. 2013, like SRH, luckily , the organizers provided them with a chance to stay in the tournament, and credit should be given to them that they grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

No problem weather is part of the game in cricket. Weather (rain & wind)effects pitch conditions and that is the beauty of cricket which will be taken away once stadiums are covered. There will be no movement for faster men etc. Rain effects the results and sometimes we end up on the losing side. We should not curse weather please. Shifting matches is not that possible as people have already paid, advertising etc. is already arranged and above all all ground preparation is done where money is spent. There are Otago, T&T and Titans who will look better in knockouts provided they make them.

SRH needs to seriously reconsider having dhawan as captain, looking at bowling stats he didnt use mishra & sharma & this is in india!! JP Duminy bowled 8 overs vs Karan Sharmas 6.2 overs in same amount of matches/innings. Then Sammy bowled 18 overs vs Mishras 16 overs!!! Call me crazy but why not use your best bowlers & get part timer to fill in 2-3 overs in a match if need be. Shouldve had sammy or white captain the side, let dhawan concentrate on his batting. Hope they get some good players next year & do well.

Totally agree with P.BIPULKUMAR top 2 teams from ind, aus, eng,SA,WI,PAK,SL and No 1 team from NL and Bang should play 3rd placed teams should play qualifing and 2 teams go will be a lengthy tournament.but i hope it will be fine cause its a hit with the fans and more importantly its a global event.seems better than t20 Worldcup Each group has 9 teams and top 2 qualify max it will be 10 games and min 8.teams have better chance of showing their true colors if we have more games. Consistant teams will finish at the top

If anything had to be blamed its the captaincy.Karan underused,Amit was not treated as a prime bowler, who actually is along with Dale. They never played to their strength which i feel is bowling, one of the better bowling attack in IPL.Sanga did notice their strength and did well if anybody should replace him it should have been sammy.lets not forget sammy is an awesome captain and a team player whereas Dhawan is still Raw. the decision to appoint Dhawan was purely because of his purple patch and not his talent as a captain.personnally they under utilized sammy who actually captained his national team to glory in t20 worldcup.I'm not blaming dhawan,i just feel he is not the captaincy material as one would call.

why these two matches also not shifted to different venue, can" t understand these kind of decision, one match is shited, other"s not, if ahmadabad bad weather condition all the matches must shift to other venue. very unfair for the titans & sunrisers, organizing commite should get responssible for this happen.

Mumbai followed by Chennai, Bangalore and Delhi has too much Influence on Indian Cricket. It is so Pathetic to see Huge Inequality among the teams.
