Tanaka Chivanga

Somewhat of a late bloomer, Tanaka Chivanga, a right-arm fast bowler, was 27 when he made his first-class debut for Mashonaland Eagles in the 2020-21 season of the Logan Cup. He picked a three-wicket haul on debut against Southern Rocks followed by a four-for in his second game against Rhinos and has since consistently been among the wickets across formats in the Zimbabwe domestic circuit.

Chivanga played just three games in his first Logan Cup season, but that was enough for the selectors to pick him up in the Zimbabwe T20I and Test squads for the series against Pakistan at home in April-May 2021. He didn't get a game in either leg, but was called up to the Zimbabwe A side, where he made his List A debut against South Africa A and played two four-day games. In July 2021, Chivanga was named in Zimbabwe's Test squad for a one-off match against Bangladesh but was not handed a debut.

Chivanga then picked seven wickets in five T20 games against South Africa A in April 2022 and was rewarded with an international debut in a T20I against Namibia the next month. Soon after, he got his ODI cap as well - against Afghanistan.

The fast bowler made his Test debut against West Indies in February 2023 but went wicketless. It took him more than a year to play his next Test when he turned out for Zimbabwe against Ireland in Belfast and picked up his maiden Test wicket.
