- Madhya Pradesh's left-arm spinner Kumar Kartikeya got his first IPL contract as an injury replacement, when Mumbai Indians (MI) signed him in 2022 in place of Arshad Khan. MI paid Kartikeya INR 20 lakh at the time, and he got five wickets in four games for them.

- A spinner who can bowl both left-arm orthodox and wristspin, Kartikeya then played eight games for MI in 2023. That season, he managed just five wickets at an average of 45.40 in eight matches. He remained with MI in 2024, but didn't get a game throughout the season.

- MI released Kartikeya ahead of the mega auction for IPL 2025, when he was bought by Rajasthan Royals for INR 30 lakh.
