Walter Henry Scott, Earl of Dalkeith played three times for MCC between 1881 and 1885. In his first innings he opened and in his last he batted at No. 11. He died aged 25 when he accidentally shot himself while deer stalking. He slipped down a steep hill in pursuit of a stag and his gun hit a rock and fired into his shoulder and died a few hours later, still on the hill, from loss of blood.
