Robin Minz

The first tribal player to feature in the IPL, Robin Minz was being hailed as the next MS Dhoni for being an aggressive wicketkeeper-batter from Jharkhand. Minz took the IPL 2024 auction by storm when Gujarat Titans shelled out a whopping INR 3.60 crore.

However, Minz ended up missing the IPL that year because of a motorcycle accident he suffered before the tournament, and was ruled out of action for a few months. After recovering, he made his first-class and T20 debuts for Jharkhand at the end of 2024 just before getting his second IPL deal, with Mumbai Indians for INR 65 lakh, a steep fall of 82% in his pay cheque.

Minz had played only seven T20s and two first-class games at the senior level when he finally made his IPL debut for MI in 2025, but scored just 3.

Minz made waves in domestic cricket for his raw power, and his ability to generate incredible bat speed, and for also playing the helicopter shot. His similarities with Dhoni didn't end there; Minz was also coached by Chanchal Bhattacharya, who had once coached Dhoni.
