Profile

Steve Garratt, a Nottinghamshire policeman, became one of a small band on non-county players to make it onto the ECB's first-class umpires panel when he was appointed for the 2008 season. He had been on the reserve list since 2003. He stood in his first Championship match in 2005 and then appeared in another five in both 2006 and 2007. He also officiated in women's Test, ODI and Twenty20 internationals and in January 2008 was the MCC's official umpire on their tour of Argentina.
