Ivor Hale was a middle-order batsman and part-time offspinner who played for Sussex and then Gloucestershire immediately after World War Two with limited success. His only first-class fifty came against Cambridge University in 1948, and his best in the Championship was an unbeaten 43 against Derbyshire. In 1949 he returned to Worcestershire, the county of his birth, where he played for the 2nd XI for a season.
