Bedfordshire County Cricket Club lost a most distinguished identity with the passing of Arthur Bertram Poole. 'AB' played for the county from 1925 until 1951, leading it for the last six seasons. His 234 against Oxfordshire in 1936 is the Bedfordshire record. He was president of the county club at the time of his death.
