John Swinburne was an offspinner who played for Northamptonshire in 1970 and 1971 (briefly reappearing in 1974). He also enjoyed a long career in Minor County cricket for Devon and Shropshire. A schoolteacher by profession, he made his debut midway through 1970, he finished the season with 34 wickets at 31, and took another 36 the following summer.
