Samir Inamdar, a Mombasa-based solicitor, was chairman of the Coast Cricket Association at the time it became involved in a head-to-head battle with the Kenyan Cricket Association, at the time led by Sharad Ghai. Inamdar was one of the key figures in helping to bring to an end a regime which had overseen the stagnation of Kenyan cricket, and following Ghai's departure, he was elected chairman of the new body which subsequently became Cricket Kenya.
