Brendon Diamanti, a late developer with Central Districts, has become a limited-overs specialist with a knack for picking up valuable wickets and handy lower-order runs. Diamanti's multi-purpose skills impressed the selectors enough in 2008-09 for him to be chosen in the New Zealand squad for the Chappell-Hadlee Series in Australia. A big-hitting batsman, Diamanti struck 28 off nine balls in a one-day game against Canterbury that season, but his bowling is of greater value even though he can be expensive. Capable of swinging the ball, he operates at a reasonable speed and has a reputation for making things happen.
