A versatile batsman, Shaiman Anwar modeled his technique on Rahul Dravid as a teenager but has since gained a reputation as a six-hitter in UAE's domestic cricket circles. He can bat anywhere in the top six, and has both a List A and a first-class century to his name. He first picked up the game playing backyard and street cricket in his native Sialkot, for whom he played in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, as well as other domestic Pakistani tournaments. After accepting an offer to play club cricket in UAE, he also eventually took up an employment offer in the region in 2007, working and playing cricket for Consolidated Shipping Services. Further club success lead to a national call-up, and he was included in the UAE squad for the 2015 World Cup.
