Spotted as a talented cricketer from an early age, Godwill was partly sponsored by Zimbabwe Cricket through his senior school years at Falcon College. During that time he proved his worth on the cricket field with both bat and ball and was selected for the Zimbabwe U14, U16, U18 and most recently U19 national teams, in each case as captain. He was also chosen for the national schoolboy hockey team, won an academic scholarship for his school-work and was Head of his boarding house in 2010
