Profile

Matthew Jack Leach, known by his middle name, was born and bred in Taunton and came through the Somerset academy. His first-class debut came not for but against Somerset while playing for Cardiff MCCU in April 2012. It was a chastening experience as he and his team-mates were kept in the field for 141 overs as Somerset racked up 642 for 3. Leach sent down 41 wicketless overs with his slow left-arm spin. But all the better for the experience, Leach made his Somerset debut in August that year at Aigburth and took 2 for 37 in the second innings of the drawn game. He played two more Championsip matches before the end of the season and made three appearances in the CB40.
