Kate Blackwell made history with her sister Alex when they came the first set of identical twins - male or female - to play cricket for Australia. They played their first Test together on home soil in the 2006 series against India.

A former vice captain of Australia's youth team, the Commonwealth Shooting Stars, she is an attacking middle-order player and outstanding fielder in any position.

After making her ODI debut on the 2004 tour of India, she got the opportunity to show her skill in the Test arena on the 2005 Ashes tour of England. She responded with a well-constructed 72 in the second Test at Worcester to steady Australia's innings, having come to the crease with the Southern Stars precariously placed on 3 for 7.

Her attacking skills were also on display in the Twenty20 match against England at Taunton when she was again called upon to rally Australia with the score on 3 for 6. She smashed 43 from 38 balls, including five boundaries, to combine with Karen Rolton in a 147-run stand to lead Australia to their first Twenty20 victory. But Blackwell was surprisingly dropped from the squad for the World Cup in 2009, following a poor series against India and an average domestic season.

Away from cricket, she studied physiotherapy at Sydney University.
