An offspinner and lower-order thumper, Stephen Peall grew up in the shadow of John Traicos, although the comparisons between the two could not have been more marked. Peall was short and stocky, and not too mobile in the field, although he did share an ability to bowl accurately and for long periods. He made his international debut in an ODI against New Zealand in 1992-93 but missed the subsequent tour of India on disciplinary grounds. His four Test caps were unremarkable, with a best of 2 for 89 against Pakistan at Karachi.
