Tumi Sekhukhune, from Daveytown, is one of South Africa's most consistent bowlers - she is usually deployed as a second-change bowler, or the one that wrestles control back during tricky phases of the game. Sekhukhune's strike rate in the T20I game - around 17 - is one of the best in the format, and evidence of how she has combined the art of wicket-taking with strong economy.

She made her white-ball debut in 2018, in the West Indies, but has had career setbacks, partly because of injuries. After winning the CSA's award for the international women's newcomer of the year in 2019, she often found herself on the sidelines, especially in the lead-up to the 2023 T20 World Cup, because of a recurring groin problem.

Sekhukhune has made a successful comeback since, turning in impressive performances on a tour of Sri Lanka and against England at home in T20Is. Whenever she is in the XI, it's almost a reminder of what South Africa have been missing out on: control, accuracy, and the promise of a career with its best years still to come.
