It would appear the Indian humour gene is rarer than a Prior stumping.

There was a batsman called Hick and he was compared to Don Bradman. Year ago Cook was said to be on course and more than capable of surpassing all of Sachin's records. Ben Stokes was supposed to be Gary Sobers couple of days ago(Some might say it was sarcastic,rather it was cheeky and hopeful comment) and today he is Sachin.

Bairstow=Gilchrist Anderson=McGrath Swann>=Warne

Keep dreaming guys..

I mean seriously?? Wasn't it enough that it was "ASHES", supposedly the biggest event in the universe. You guys still had to drag a Retired Tendulkar to attract hits and comments ? Pathetic !

I loved the Stokes- Tendulkar part. I however do get a feeling that Stokes may not figure in too many tests- it is in ODIs that he is going to fit nicely as an allrounder. In tests, England may seek to include a better batsman in his place or a pure bowler, as his bowling is not likely to cause nightmares to opposing team batsmen.

So we've got another Botham i guess... left handed? who cares!!

Come on guys, it was just a joke. To compare against Tendulkar some one should be able to play that log and consistently.

It will be an achievement for Ben Stokes even if he passes the record of Paul collingwood.....Keep Dreaming :D

Ha Ha! Millions of people bowing down to their Tendulkar Statues have been roused by George Dobell's comments and are organizing mass rallies to protest this outrageous cricketing sacrilege. Their will be an effigy burning frenzy on the streets of Delhi, Calcutta and Mumbai. George Dobell and his bride to be Jarrod Kimber will need to adopt different Identities and disguises were they ever to visit India in future! Both their PR agencies are scrambling to contain the damage and a very contrite joint press release expressing deep regret and remorse will only begin to calm the seething rage of a SAchin obsessed nation!

Posted by Harjoth Singh on (December 18, 2013, 2:57 GMT) better average than tendulkar at the same stage of his career. Bowls 30 mph faster too. If he plays another 49 tests the way he did this one we'll have to concede he is the 2nd best player ever. After Ravindra Jadeja.

correct me if i am wrong but hasnt stokes got a higher test score and average then jadeja?

first class record doesnt mean as much as a players test record, jadeja is over rated as a player

Is the heading a joke? At least Stokes getting out seems so!!
