Test Ratings

Test Ratings work is performed for Batsman, Bowlers, Players and Team. These are done for the Current Ratings period, which is the immediate past 52 weeks and the All time Ratings period, which covers the past 5 years. In the All Time Ratings, older matches carry progressively lower weights.

Test Ratings are computed by considering the individual match performances and the period achievements. For Batsmen, the individual match performances are computed based on the runs scored and modifying this by 10 factors pertaining to the specific match. The period achievements refer to the runs scored batting average and strike rate for the Batsmen. For Bowlers, the individual match performances are computed based on the wickets captured and modifying this by 9 factors pertaining to the specific match. The period achievements refer to the wickets captured and bowling average for the Bowlers. The Players' performance criteria include the Batting, Bowling and Fielding performances during the concerned period.

The Team Ratings take into account the match results, series results and quality of teams played. In addition away performances are incorporated into the methodology. The Current Ratings period for the Team Ratings cover 78 weeks in view of the shortage of Test matches played.

ODI Ratings

ODI Ratings work is performed for Batsman, Bowlers, Players and Team. These are done for the Current Ratings period, which is the immediate past 52 weeks and the All Time Ratings period, which covers the past 5 years. In the All Time Ratings, older matches carry progressively lower weights.

ODI Ratings are computed by considering the individual match performances and the period achievements. For Batsmen, the individual match performances are computed based on the runs scored and modifying this by 8 factors pertaining to the specific match. The period achievements refer to the runs scored batting average and strike rate for the Batsmen. For Bowlers, the individual match performances are computed based on the wickets captured and modifying this by 7 factors pertaining to the specific match. The period achievements refer to the wickets captured, bowling average and bowling accuracy for the Bowlers. The Players' performance criteria include the Batting, Bowling and Fielding performances during the concerned period.

The Team Ratings take into account the match results, match importance and quality of teams played. In addition away performances are incorporated into the methodology.

T20 Ratings

T20 ratings work is performed for Batsman, Bowlers, Players and Team. Unlike the Test and ODI Ratings, T20 Ratings are performed only for a single All Time Ratings period since very few matches have been played over the past 5 years. The T20 Ratings will cover only the T20 International matches.

T20 Ratings are computed by considering the individual match performances and the period achievements. For Batsmen and Bowlers, the individual match performances are computed on a totally different method as compared to Tests and ODIs. The team's achievement in individual matches in terms of exceeding or falling short of a dynamically computed Target Score is determined. Then the margin of win achieved is normalized and added to this measure. Afterwards these team credits are allocated to the individual batsmen and bowlers based on their individual performances. The period achievements refer to the runs scored, batting average, strike rate and % of Team runs for the Batsmen. The period achievements refer to the wickets captured, bowling average, bowling accuracy and maidens bowled for the Bowlers. The Players' performance criteria include the Batting, Bowling and Fielding performances during the concerned period.
