47.6 to AP Devcich, straight to cover. Another one goes. A slower ball on leg, Devcich backs away and looks to go over cover. The right option, but bad execution. The ball hardly comes on as he ends up chipping a catch to cover who takes an easy reverse-cupped catch by his shoulder. 242/7
7 | 0 | 59 | 1 | 8.42 | 13 | 7 | 0 | 1 | 0 | |
44.3 to BJ Watling, swung away but straight down to fine leg, and Watling goes. Fuller length down leg, Watling goes for a swing with the angle, but cannot keep it down. Cannot get enough on it. Ends up helping it down to fine leg, who had to move a few metres to his left to complete the catch.. 217/5
5 | 0 | 31 | 1 | 6.20 | 19 | 4 | 0 | 8 | 0 | |
25.1 to MJ Guptill, and the bowling change from spin to pace on a pitch that is assisting turn works. This is short of a length, just outside off, Guptill looks to punch it on the up but is cramped on slightly and ends up playing inside its line. The outside edge is pouched comfortably by Dhoni. A very good innings on a difficult pitch to score runs on. 138/2
10 | 0 | 42 | 2 | 4.20 | 29 | 3 | 0 | 1 | 0 | |
35.2 to KS Williamson, gone, caught behind. Quite a big edge. Shorter and wide outside off, Williamson fails to get over the bounce, gets an edge on his cut. Undone by a bit of an extra bounce, good length from Mishra. A false shot from Williamson or just beaten by the bounce, he throws his head back in disgust. 184/3 37.6 to JDS Neesham, taken. Neesham slaps a ball to cover and falls. NZ stumbling again through the middle overs. Flatter trajectory outside off, Neesham is hesitant whether to go back or come forward. Eventually, he is in a terrible place to play the half-drive, half-cut. Excellent length. Ends up mis-timing his stroke to Kohli at cover, who dives low to his left to complete the catch. May have done some damage to his hand too. The ball may have hit Neesham twice on the bat, once at the top, then at the bottom during his swing. 192/4
10 | 0 | 38 | 1 | 3.80 | 34 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
15.3 to TWM Latham, taken this time. The pressure was building on NZ. Latham tries to drag his sweep from well outside off and ends up getting a leading edge which lobs up for short fine leg to take. Axar slowed that up and pushed that wide, Latham ended up being too far outside off to control that stroke. Reward for some tight bowling. 96/1

4.1 to RG Sharma, beauty from Southee. Perfect outswinger. Short of a driving length, just outside off, Sharma plays defensively from the crease. The ball moves away to take the outside edge. This is really good bowling. This is late swing, and Sharma follows it with his hands. 19/1 32.2 to MK Pandey, one more. Pandey has picked out mid-on and Pandey cannot believe it. Superb catch. A slower delivery outside off, was way too full and Pandey saw an opportunity to loft the ball over mid-on. It ended up a tad too full and Pandey was unable to get underneath that. Drilled his drive, but Latham leaped up at just the right time to take a great catch with both hands well over his head. Timed his jump to perfection, had to because Pandey got plenty on it. India stumbling again. 154/5 32.3 to KM Jadhav, plumb in front. Jadhav has to go. An offcutter on middle, Jadhav just plain misses a straight delivery. Keeps low too. Southee takes pace off the ball, Jadhav is late on his attempted nudge and the ball raps him in front of middle. At worst, would be hitting leg stump. A double strike for NZ.. 154/6
9.4 | 1 | 48 | 2 | 4.96 | 33 | 5 | 1 | 2 | 0 | |
42.3 to AR Patel, full, fast and that's the game. Finally through Patel. He has fought hard but it has come to an end here. Boult spears this in, Patel looks to whip it, but is late into the shot. The ball hits his pad and ricochets into the off stump. 207/9 48.4 to UT Yadav, and a big wind-up it is but the slower ball has been mis-hit straight to extra cover to level the series. Boult just too good for No. 11 with that asking rate that high. Slower, on a length, and it has been sliced. 241/10
6 | 0 | 38 | 2 | 6.33 | 19 | 4 | 1 | 2 | 0 | |
27.2 to AM Rahane, given this time. The change has worked. Looked pretty close. Rahane fails to convert a solid start into a big score, Yes, good decision by umpire Oxenford. Full and straight - towards middle and off. Rahane comes forward and shuffles across to reduce the distance from a plausible offcutter, but Neesham bowls this seam-up. It skids on and strikes Rahane in front of middle, no problem with height. Out.. 128/3 29.2 to MS Dhoni, gets through. Massive wicket. Dhoni falls. The crowd goes silent. Just a straight delivery on leg. Seam-up, Dhoni doesn't move his feet, drives at the ball but the ball finds a way through the bat and pad gap to clatter into leg stump. A big play from Neesham. May have got that to seam back in just enough.. 135/4
10 | 0 | 38 | 1 | 3.80 | 34 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 0 | |
35.6 to HH Pandya, oh it looks like a good shot but the fielding - both the placement and the effort - is even better. Pandya jumps out of the crease and goes inside out with the turn, but doesn't place it as wide as he would have liked. Latham is wide at long-off, and judges his run to his left perfectly to take complete this catch between where long-off and deep extra cover. 167/7
10 | 1 | 52 | 1 | 5.20 | 26 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
19.5 to V Kohli, and gone. Kohli falls. Short and wide outside off, a terrible delivery. Kohli goes back and gets a thin edge which is well taken by Watling. Not much turn, but there may have been some extra bounce, or Kohli just played for some. Either way, what was turning into another typical Kohli chase has been cut short, almost literally.. 98/2
