Fullish length and coming into him, plays all across it, overbalances and is trapped in front. Looked plumb. 6/1 2.2 to Rahmat Shah, appeal for caught behind. Anil Chaudhary walks over to consult the square leg umpire. Kevin O'Brien is quite confident. They have referred this to the third umpire. This was full and shaping away from Rahmat. He goes after it away from the body, does not move the feet and has to to reach out for it. There is a certain noise and some deviation as well as the ball goes to the keeper. It is a legal delivery and the TV umpire has flashed the red light. Afghanistan once again in early trouble. 6/2 4.5 to Usman Ghani, comes down the track and picks out extra cover. The pressure of lack of run gets to him. It was short of good length and he strides out and slashes a cut. Hits it straight into the hands of Jacob Mulder. 16.6 to Hashmatullah Shahidi, this is simply sensational bowling. There's flight, and so he's drawn forward. But in the process, he fails to account for the turn. Goes for the drive, the ball beats the inside edge by sneaking through the gap and onto the stumps. A wicket any lespinner would be proud of. He looked compact for large parts but one major error of playing down the wrong line has cost him big. Afghanistan in trouble.. 57/4 20.4 to Gulbadin Naib, pitches and straightens and strikes the pad, Naib was confused whether to play or let it go, loud appeal and given.. 75/5 32.6 to Shafiqullah, lovely delivery and Shafiq is struck on the pad in line with the off stump as he moves back to a straight delivery, clever bowling.. 142/8 | ||||||||||

9.3 to PR Stirling, chipped straight to mid-on. And it is a huge, huge blow for Ireland. Paul Stirling, the in-form batsman, gets off to a start and perishes. Comes down the track and the ball stops on him a little, as a result he ends up closing the bat face early and gets a leading edge. 48/1 15.1 to WTS Porterfield, turn outside off and Shahzad reckons he has had him stumped. This has been referred to the third umpire. He was pushing forward and dragged the backfoot outside the crease as the ball beats the outside edge. He slides it back in but not before Shahzad whips off the bails in a flash. That wicket was as much the keeper's as much as it was the bowler's. Superb effort all-round. 59/3 25.1 to A Balbirnie, this one keeps low and sneaks through his defence. The ball drifts in from wide of the crease, pitches on off and skids straight on. Balbirnie was looking to work it with the turn when there was none. Couldn't do much really as the ball didn't bounce enough. Bat didn't come down on time either. Big, big wicket. He was a split-second late on the shot as well.. 102/4 31.5 to AR McBrine, beauty! Once again foxed by the turn. Had no clue if this would spin away as he prodded forward half-heartedly and saw the ball drift-in, straighten and hit off stump. Played down the wrong line again. Fourth for Nabi. 30.3 to SR Thompson, this time he's got his man. Foxed him completely in length. Thompson feels for the ball, I suspect he was expecting a googly and so pushed outside the line. There was a big gap between bat and pad. This ball spun back in to sneak through. Created the doubt and then finally nipped it in the bud. Skillful from Rashid. Ireland in trouble. 121/5 43.1 to GC Wilson, holes out to the lone man at deep midwicket. Poor ball. It was too short, he could have played it wherever he pleased. This time, he hit it straight down the throat of the fielder. The ball may have skidded on a touch to prevent him from playing it behind square. Afghanistan are still alive.. 196/7 | ||||||||||
