2.5 to CH Gayle, bowled in! That is outstanding bowling. And Taylor just wheels away to mid-off, not even caring to look at the carnage he has left in his wake. Jerome Taylor, at his best, can swing the ball both ways and this certainly does swing. Late. Away from the left-hander. As if a yorker needed that leg up. Gayle tries his best to plant a straight bat down on it, but the ball takes a detour past the outside edge and canons into off stump. 35/1 2.6 to Mohammad Hafeez, pins him lbw. So that's why he's been bowling those wides! Lulls Hafeez into a false sense of security and then delivers this wicket-to-wicket delivery, on a good length, catches the batsman on the crease and hits him on the knee-roll. Would it have gone down leg with the angle? Umpire Johan Cloete doesn't think so. 37/2 18.6 to CR Brathwaite, gets under it, gets under it a touch too much, and the ball lands safely in the hands of deep midwicket. Brathwaite looks to repeat the heave over midwicket to a length ball, but he doesn't time it properly. No such shortcomings from Andre Fletcher, who settles under the skier and takes it ever so calmly.. 181/6

14.3 to DC Thomas, uproots leg stump! Shillingford is actually turning around to appeal for lbw because his line of sight to the piece of wood floating like debris on the turf is blocked by the batsman. Good length ball, pitches on off stump, spins past the shuffling batsman, beats his clip and takes him out. 139/4

7.2 to BA King, collision between Fletcher and Charles but the catch is still taken! Drama. High drama. And at the end of it the St Lucia captain has a wicket to his name at the ground in his name. Length ball. King gets under it too much with his lofted drive and as a result the ball goes straight up. Charles at mid-on tracks it. Fletcher at mid-off tracks it (because really it's his catch). Someone must have called. But no one has heard it and in the end Charles crashes into Fletcher, but importantly, the catch is taken. 84/3

16.5 to E Lewis, caught by a wide slip! And Cornwall makes amends! Top stuff from Mayers because this is a plan - bowling full and bowling wide. Lewis doesn't quite read the play and attempts to guide the ball to third man. But his path is blocked and so he has to head back to the pavilion. End of a fine innings. But has he been dismissed at a crucial time? A time when his team needed him to stay on?. 150/5

3.3 to J Charles, that's gone straight up, and the wicketkeeper takes it somewhere near cover point. Top work from Devon Thomas. Calls for the catch the moment Charles' slog malfunctions and results in a leading edge. Sends everyone back with a spread of his arms, gets under it well and takes it diving to his right. 32/1 5.5 to Kamran Akmal, and that's that. He's faced six balls. He's given catching opportunities on four of them and this time Brathwaite takes the catch at mid-off. 49/2 9.6 to MN Samuels, caught and bowled off a full toss and Hafeez is overjoyed. He's kept the runs down with his flat darts, and now he dismisses a two-time World T20 champion in the softest of ways. Samuels comes down the track for a flick, plays it too early and watches the ball settle into the bowler's hands. 85/3

18.1 to MJ McClenaghan, full, straight, bowled. McClenaghan backs away, trying to flick, fails spectacularly. 139/8

14.1 to DJG Sammy, bowls him! Beautiful piece of deception. He starts it by bowling short - which is why Sammy sets up for the pull - but there is no pace on the ball. It's a googly as well. The Stars captain is through with his shot and then the ball has a free path to middle stump. 106/5

11.6 to ADS Fletcher, bowls him with a yorker! Nabi takes out the danger man two balls short of a fifty and exults fittingly. What a ball. Comes out of nowhere. Fletcher is simply not ready to play a spinner hitting the blockhole. 93/4 15.2 to SR Watson, caught at long-on! Watson goes for the slog sweep to a length ball, but he mistimes it. Gets a bit of a top edge that settles in the hands of Carter.. 112/6 17.3 to KR Mayers, he's stumped! Beautiful work from the combination of Nabi and Thomas. One brings the batsman out of his crease and beats him on the inside edge, the other collects the ball cleanly and breaks the stumps. 134/7 |
