A huge, lengthy appeal from Collingwood and the wicketkeeper - and Taufel, after a long Bucknor-like delay, raises his finger, though replays suggest it's a poor decision, the ball missing the off stump by several inches. And that's a shocking decision from Taufel; it didn't look out with the naked eye and Hawk-Eye confirms it would have passed by his off stump comfortably. Oh dear. 342/4

45.1 to Karthik, and Panesar strikes with the first ball after tea! Flighted outside leg stump, Karthik went to work it through midwicket, got an edge on to his pad, it looped up slowly to short leg where Cook took a low catch low to his left 149/2

76.2 to Dravid, got him! Tossed up outside off, Dravid never got his foot to the pitch of the ball - poking at it without conviction, much as he has done against Panesar on occasion throughout his innings, and Bell takes an excellent diving catch to his left at short extra 246/3

156.2 to Singh, Singh misses with a forward defensive poke, the ball hits him on the front leg but an easy decision for Ian Howell, hitting near the top of middle according to Hawk-Eye 474/9

158.5 to Sreesanth, Sreesanth decides to pad away a ball but he doesn't even get his front leg out of the crease and as he kicks the ball he spins away as if not wanting to look at the umpire ... and understandably as Howell's finger is up 481/10

18.2 to Cook, and he's got him - there's the breakthrough for India. It was full and straight, swinging back into Cook a touch who misread the line and was rapped dead in front 49/1

44.2 to Strauss, and Khan strikes with his second ball after lunch! A wider delivery, down off, and Strauss fished with a poor stroke away from his body, Dhoni taking a simple catch, low down 130/2

82.4 to Vaughan, the breakthrough and it came out of nothing. Vaughan shaped to flick into the leg side, he got an edge onto his thigh pad and that deflected the ball agonisingly slowly into his stumps. He stood for a moment is disbelief before heading off to a standing ovation. 287/4

82.6 to Bell, and that's another, a super delivery angled in from wide of the crease, Bell back on his stumps misses the ball and it's an easy decision. 287/5

96.2 to Collingwood, but this time he was really gone - going for the drive, a thick outside edge flies to first slip for a very good catch by Karthik 323/7

54.5 to Pietersen, oh, a misjudgement from Pietersen who leaves it, but that was a beautiful ball from Singh, pitching it very wide outside off. It came back a very long way and would have hit off-and-middle. Plumb; an easy decision for Taufel and a blow for England 175/3
