4.5 to TM Dilshan, Anderson has the last laugh! He learns from his mistake after the two boundaries by holding the length back, more on a good length but Dilshan had to play at it, was forward and beside the line and he ended up getting an outside edge that travelled low to Prior's right. 21/1
4.6 to KC Sangakkara, Anderson's on a hat-trick! Sanga's quiet series turns to a pin-drop, beautiful delivery from Anderson, on a good length on the corridor outside off, Sangakkara too had to play at it and the outside edge flew to first slip, Strauss fumbled at first but caught it at the second attempt one-handed. 21/2
8.6 to HDRL Thirimanne, appeal for an lbw and he's given out! But Thirimanne has referred it, he's gone, not the wisest decision really padding up in front of the stumps, Anderson pitched that on middle and leg and got it to straighten from over the wicket, Thirimanne went a long way across and didn't offer a shot, exposed his leg stump and that was smashing the middle stump, there was a referral after the umpire Oxenford gave him out. 30/3
2245112.311056000
84.2 to HAPW Jayawardene, a peach from Finn and Jayawardene nicks off! England make another breakthrough as the close nears. It was just the delivery from Finn, catching Jayawardene in two minds - he stayed back, pushed at the ball as it straightened just a fraction, and Matt Prior took a smart catch diving to his right. 227/6
2134722.23985000
52.5 to TT Samaraweera, got him! Swinging in and trapped in front, Samaraweera is done for! There was a hint of a bluff at work here, with England bringing in a short leg, as if to set him up for another bumper but Bresnan went full and straight, the batsman almost falling over as he tried to get his bat down. Those bouncers had done their work previously .... 154/4
108.6 to HMRKB Herath, Sri Lanka gift away their second wicket of the morning, it wasn't short enough to hoick it over the on side, no foot movement to follow the line of the ball, gets a thin edge and Prior takes it. 270/9
1633202.00731100
28.147542.661208000
79.3 to DPMD Jayawardene, big lbw appeal ... he's out! But Jayawardene reviews it. It pitched on off stump, straightened, thumping into the knee roll; Jayawardene thought it was maybe too high, maybe doing too much - and it did turn back a long way - but Hawk Eye said it was going on to clip the top of leg. The decision is upheld and DPMD Jayawardene walks off, shaking his head. 216/5
101.4 to S Randiv, Randiv falls for the trap! Strauss had kept a fielder at deepish mid-on for the loft and Randiv did exactly that, chipped down the track and found Pietersen in that position, good catch in the end because he had to cup it over his head, fell backwards and hung on. 258/7
103.2 to AD Mathews, it's a double-strike by Swann! Once again Strauss rewarded for his field placement and he himself has taken the catch, tossed up and invites the drive, Mathews tries to chip it over the on side but checks his shot and finds the England captain at short midwicket. 261/8
111.1 to RAS Lakmal, It's been Swann's morning! Turn, turn, turn…tossed up outside off and he gives it a lot of spin, lands on the rough, beats the forward prod and goes through the big gap between bat and pad.. 275/10

117.3 to IR Bell, hooks crisply - but it flies straight to midwicket and Bell is gone! The ball was perhaps a little slow to get up, Bell played a premeditated shot, not quite off the meat of the bat, and it was well taken by Randiv going to his right. 347/4
53913362.502378200
97.5 to IJL Trott, finally some reward for Herath! He gave it more flight and tossed it up slower, Trott was forward to defend and the extra bounce took him by surprise, outside edge at a comfortable height to Jayawardene at first slip, very similar shot to Cook's dismissal. 253/3
126.2 to MJ Prior, Prior decides to go downtown as well, down the track to a flighted delivery and he turns the face of the bat and miscues it, Prasad takes the skier at long-off. 380/5
134.5 to KP Pietersen, Appeal for an lbw and he's given him! KP reviews that, he looks in trouble, flatter delivery and KP tries to paddle that in front of his stumps, the ball goes past the glove and hits him flush in front of middle, Rauf's decision was right in the end. 411/6
138.5 to TT Bresnan, faster, skidding through and bowled him! It was pushed through, straight and full, Bresnan brought his bat down late and the ball fizzed through the gap and into the stumps. Maybe stayed a bit low - though England won't mind the sight of that. 419/7
149.4 to GP Swann, Swann swings again and this time he perishes, chipping a full toss to extra-cover! He was trying to up the tempo again but didn't connect properly, picking out Dilshan on the full who took a smart catch above his head. 454/8
151.2 to JM Anderson, the reverse sweep does for Anderson, who misses, is hit on the pad and is then sent on his way. They opt against using a review, though replays suggest Herath's stock ball (like an offspinner to a left-hander) from over the wicket might have drifted down the leg side. Anyway, Anderson's off, so there'll be no further debating it. 458/9
2047323.65795200
51.3 to AJ Strauss, got him this time, edged to the keeper! Strauss went back and cut at a wide-ish offspinner, got a thick deflection and Prasanna Jayawardene did superbly to take it, straight into the gloves. After that let-off two balls ago, Strauss should probably have left there - but once again he fails to go on to a century and Sri Lanka have their breakthrough. 122/1
84.1 to AN Cook, Cook goes six short! The bowling change works immediately for Sri Lanka, Dilshan comes round the wicket, Cook is forward but fails to cover the line, outside edge to Jayawardene at first slip. 213/2
34.3410713.101397200
152.3 to SR Patel, hoicked high into the leg side but it's not got the legs (or wings) and Patel departs to a catch at deep midwicket. Randiv's first wicket wraps up the England innings - and means that Sri Lanka will have to face one over before the close. 460/10

8.2 to HDRL Thirimanne, Thirimanne goes, Prior must be relieved, thick edge and straight to Strauss at slip, just short of a good length and nipped away sharply, the opener flirted with that one when he could have let it go and ends up offering a straightforward catch, England strike. 23/1
15.513021.89773010
18.2 to KTGD Prasad, Finn makes amends for his drop, gets rid of Dhammika, there is a deep square leg in place and Dhammika strikes it straight to him, short on middle and it's pulled away, Bresnan takes it comfortably. 64/2
118.5 to AD Mathews, Sri Lanka have been bowled out, was that the slower one? It wasn't but it stopped on him, Mathews had already committed himself to an attacking shot on the leg side and he ended up just lobbing it, and Strauss at midwicket ran back to complete a good catch, England need 94 to win. 278/10
40110662.651718000
35.1 to TM Dilshan, Appeal for a catch at slip, given but Dilshan reviews it, turning in from outside off, gets forward and tries to defend, replays are not conclusive, the bat hits the ground and the ball goes off the pads towards slip, there is no definite evidence of an inside edge, Dilshan reviewed it immediately, was there a slight contact with the bat after the ball struck the pad? The replays can't prove anything. There's no Hot Spot. You just can't be definite. England were confident, they went up spontaneously. In the absence of Hot Spot, it's really hard to tell. The third umpire is trying every possible angle. The original decision is upheld. But since the on-field umpire had given it out, the third umpire didn't have conclusive evidence that he didn't hit it! There was no conclusive evidence that he did either! Tricky situation, but a decision's been made and Dilshan has to walk back. 104/3
45.4 to KC Sangakkara, got him, a massive wicket for England! Swann is Kryptonite for left-handers and he ends the stay of Sangakkara, who averages 70-odd at this ground. He drew the batsman forward again, outside off stump, the ball turning and feathering the edge on its way through to Prior. That was a subtle knife past the defences and it breaks a potentially key association between Sangakarra and Jayawardene. 125/4
89.1 to TT Samaraweera, bowled him! Swann removes Samaraweera, the batsman going back and defending on to the wicket, the ball bouncing up and tipping the cap of the leg-stump bail on its way through! Swann clenches his fists and looks to the sky. That could be crucial in changing the course of the match! Swann got a little extra bounce, which surprised the batsman as he went back, the wicket ending a 90-run partnership. 215/5
89.3 to S Randiv, turns one through the gate! It's another Swanny Super Over for England, the first of what will be a short but very sweet spell. He threw this one up outside off, drawing, enticing Randiv out and then ripped it through the gap, shattering the timbers and severely upsetting Sri Lanka's equilibrium at the same time. 215/6
101.5 to DPMD Jayawardene, caught at short leg! Cook's caught one, and it was a ripper from Swann. The offbreak pitched outside off, bounced sharply and turned considerably into the right-hander. There was little Mahela could do, he had almost no time to react. The ball thudded into his glove and lobbed up, giving Cook enough time to move forward and take the catch in the middle of the pitch. England have their opening. This one bounced so much more than the second ball did. 238/7
103.5 to HAPW Jayawardene, bowled him! Prasanna tried to sweep once again. He lunged forward and towards the off, aiming for deep backward square leg. Swann ripped the offbreak, beat the bat and hit leg stump. He has his sixth and England are marching towards a small chase.. 242/8
1452401.71712010
2575412.161165000
108.2 to HMRKB Herath, edged and gone, turning in from a good length and Herath stabs at that one, ends up offering an easy catch to Anderson, Herath didn't frustrate them for long.. 251/9

9.1 to IJL Trott, on the stumps, forward defensive with bat and pad, there's an appeal for lbw ... and Sri Lanka call for the review again. Replays show it was pad first - but would it have slid on to hit the stumps? Yes, it would have cannoned into middle and leg halfway up! Trott is gone, England are two down! An excellent review from Jayawardene, and the words "Abu Dhabi" are rapidly spooling across the frontal lobes of everyone watching. Yikes!. 31/2
