  • General
  • Gavaskar became the first played to make 100 consecutive Test appearances.
  • Jones's 210 was the highest score by an Australian in a Test in India. It took 503 minutes, 330 balls and included 27 fours and 2 sixes. He had to be treated in hospital after the completion of the innings for exhaustion.
  • More suffered food poisoning and left the field after 50 minutes play on the first morning. Pandit deputising as wicket-keeper.
