6.3 to Nawroz Mangal, that's a nothing shot. This is short of a length, wide, moving away, Mangal just hangs his bat out horizontally. The edge is taken, and Root takes it overhead at first slip. 17/1
8 | 1 | 18 | 1 | 2.25 | 36 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 0 | |
7.3 to Javed Ahmadi, Root in business again. A perfect length ball for a slightly loose batsman. Ahmadi drives at it away from the body, the ball moves away a touch, the edge is taken, and Root takes a simple catch at first slip. 20/2
6.2 | 2 | 13 | 2 | 2.05 | 32 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 0 | |
11.2 to Afsar Zazai, and there he gets the wicket. Keeps pitching it up, just outside off, gets the ball to hold its line. It is on a length. Not quite a half-volley so the half-forward movement doesn't cover the movement. The regulation outside edge settles with Buttler. 25/3 15.1 to Samiullah Shinwari, another wicket falls. Jordan keeps bowling at a length outside off. Sami drives hard at it. The ball holds its line, takes a thick edge square on the off side. Morgan takes a low catch diving forward at point. 34/4
8 | 1 | 31 | 2 | 3.87 | 30 | 3 | 0 | 1 | 0 | |
25.4 to Nasir Jamal, and a wicket immediately after the break. Just a gentle length ball outside off. Maybe it holds its line a touch but mostly a straight delivery. Jamal gets forward but not quite close to it. he also opens the face. Easy catch for Buttler. 65/5 31.4 to Mohammad Nabi, soft dismissal. Nabi has taken it upon himself to provide some impetus to this innings. He has been taking risks in order to do so. Gets a short ball, pulls it hard, but straight down mid-on's throat. 93/6
7 | 0 | 25 | 1 | 3.57 | 27 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
34.4 to Shafiqullah, Bopara is doing everything today. Shafiq tries the big sweep, gets a big top edge that flies around deep square leg. Bopara from fine leg and Jordan from deep midwicket converge, but nobody seems to have called for this. Jordan lets it go at the last moment, and Bopara takes it with a late dive to his left. Inches off the ground. 101/7 |

13.3 to AD Hales, and Hassan gets a wicket on his final night of the World Cup. Something to cheer about at least. On a length, just outside off, seams away a touch. Hales is looking to defend, playing the angle, and ends up edging this through to the keeper. 83/1
