44.3 to JP Duminy, he's given it away! Wonderful bowling from Senanayake though. Lovely flight and the batsman couldn't resist from pulling out the drive. But he couldn;t quite reach the pitch and ended up scooping the ball to short cover. Good, low catch from Dilshan too. 249/5 | ||||||||||

12.5 to Q de Kock, he's chopped it on! Mathews has a gleeful smile on his face. This was full and wide outside off. De Kock set up for the cover drive again, but played too early. 13.2 to JH Kallis, plumb in front! Kallis bags a duck! This was the carrom ball and the batsman has not read it at all. Plays all around it as he looks to nudge it through midwicket and is struck on the back pad as the ball pitches and turns away,. Would have clattered into middle and off. 60/2 35.6 to AB de Villiers, oh dear! he's chipped it to long-off! He's looked excellent since the moment he came out to bat and that partnership with Amla has put South Africa on top. But this was a simple, good length ball that he chose to hit over the top. But having decided that, he should have hit it harder than that. Almost picked out the fielder. 211/3 41.5 to HM Amla, huge blow! Amla was trying to be cheeky as he moved well outside off stump. But Mendis sends this nice and full. Too full to sweep, which was what Amla tried to do and is caught in front of middle. Massive innings, but South Africa's finishers have to make sure it translates into a good total. 239/4 | ||||||||||

38.2 to KMDN Kulasekara, off you go, says Styen as Kulasekara goes for a dab to third man and chops a short ball well outside off onto his stumps. The crowd in Colombo is stunned. 223/8 40.3 to BAW Mendis, this is a mistimed hoick, McLaren gets under a swirler and South Africa take the first game in convincing fashion. Steyn goes short and Mendis backs away to try and smoke it out of the park but has fell way off the mark. 229/10 | ||||||||||

7.6 to MDKJ Perera, he's picked out short fine leg! It was another slower short ball, rather like the one for the free hit. Kusal pivots on the back foot and pulls, but he's hit it off a bit of a top edge and lobbed a low catch to Morkel at short fine leg. Big unit needed to dive forward and did well. Claims it straight away, but Kusal wants to wait. The umpires consult each other, then throw it to the third ump who has a simple enough decision. 50/1 | ||||||||||

16.3 to TM Dilshan, they've kept teasing him and teasing him and finally Dilshan manages a thick outside edge through to the keeper. Another short and wide delivery that he chased without any footwork to end a useful little innings. 98/2 29.1 to AD Mathews, huge strike for Morkel as he induces the outside edge of a man in prime form! Loose shot from Mathews as he threw his bat at one outside his off stump and the keeper takes a regulation catch.. 164/5 | ||||||||||

37.1 to HDRL Thirimanne, bowled him! This was full and straight and he goes for a hoick across the line. Sanga was hitting wonderfully at the other end. He threw his head back at the non-strikers' That was not the shot to play, especially considering you expose the tail. 216/6 37.3 to KC Sangakkara, this is right off the bottom of the bat, it's a steepler but extra cover has got under it. It was full and just a touch too wide and made him reach for it. Magnificent innings from Sanga, but the demands of Duckworth and Lewis and a resurgent South Africa pace attack get to him. 217/7 | ||||||||||

22.1 to DPMD Jayawardene, he's struck straight away! Brilliant catch from the keeper! It was short, it needed to be cut but Mahela only manages a healthy edge which de Kock pouches very safely. South Africa's top-notch fielding comes to their rescue again. 122/3 24.3 to SMA Priyanjan, rush of blood and Tahir has set off for his customary run. Taps his chest in delight after luring the outside edge. Absolutely awful shot from Priyanjan as he danced down the track and went for a slog sweep against the turn. Ends up giving an asy catch to short third man. 138/4 39.2 to SMSM Senanayake, how bout that, the stumps are rattled and its the googly again! Senanayake pushed at the ball gingerly, he did not pick it at all and has to walk back. 223/9 | ||||||||||
