4.5 to WU Tharanga, Dale Steyn has given South Africa the breakthrough for the zillionth time in his career, he pounds in and digs it in short of a length, Tharanga arches away from it, but his gloves are in line, and the ball hits them to pop up behind to the keeper, probably not the line and length to be attempting to sway away, did not get up as much as he anticipated too. 16/1 4.6 to KC Sangakkara, Sangakkara bounced out first ball, they have had him jumping to snorters in Galle, and this time have taken him out immediately, Steyn goes short, just outside off, it climbs up rapidly, and Sangakkara responds with a pull, but succeeds only in top-edging it tamely to square leg, it did not even get up to chest height, but Sangakkara was keen to dismiss it. 16/2
21.4 | 7 | 52 | 2 | 2.40 | 106 | 6 | 0 | 0 | 1 | |
119.6 to BAW Mendis, umpire Llong raises the finger as South Africa appeal for caught behind, Philander produces extra bounce, and Mendis cannot get hold of the cut yet again, Sri Lanka review this, but there is a noise as ball passes bat, that is the only thing the third umpire has to go on in the absence of Hot Spot and Snicko, and Mendis will have to go. 415/9 121.4 to RAS Lakmal, that is the end of the innings, Lakmal flashes at a widish length ball and snicks it through to the keeper. 421/10
26 | 6 | 69 | 1 | 2.65 | 123 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 1 | |
77.2 to KDK Vithanage, Vithanage is gone, he was looking like falling any moment, and he has now, Morkel has him hopping with a lifter, Vithanage fends, and the ball pops up off the shoulder of the bat to third slip where AB takes it. 285/5
33 | 4 | 121 | 1 | 3.66 | 126 | 9 | 2 | 0 | 0 | |
116.4 to MDK Perera, Tahir has a wicket after going for 110 runs, Perera wanted to launch it down the ground but found himself too close to the pitch and unable to get any sort of elevation, picks out mid on tamely. 404/7
18 | 1 | 80 | 2 | 4.44 | 66 | 9 | 2 | 0 | 1 | |
25.2 to JK Silva, what a crazy session this has been, after all the pressure spin released, now a part-time slow bowler has struck, Silva looking for the drive to a pitched up delivery slanted wide across him, a thick edge is earned, and AB is too good at slip to miss a second catch on the trot. 115/3 64.5 to AD Mathews, JP Duminy plays partnership breaker again, this is there to be cut, starting wide and spinning in a tad, but Mathews has nicked it behind, bounced a touch more, and just like that South Africa have the breakthrough. 246/4

38.2 to F du Plessis, and after nearly 30 overs of blocking, South Africa lose a wicket to a super take down the leg side, Dickwella can do no wrong on debut, this came in full down Faf's pads and moved further away, he tickled it fine, managed some distance to the keeper's left, but Dickwella went flying and came up with a one-handed take inches from the turf. 71/3
45 | 17 | 71 | 4 | 1.57 | 232 | 4 | 3 | 0 | 0 | |
1.5 to AN Petersen, and South Africa lose their first wicket in the first over of spin, nothing shot from Petersen, this is bowled full on the stumps from round the wicket, and he has pushed it straight back to the bowler. 3/1 89.4 to JP Duminy, Herath has his man, Duminy has dug himself a hole out there and now jumped into it, he skips out immediately after that last appeal, misses as the ball turns in to brush pad, and goes to the keeper, who pulls off a sharp stumping, the ball deviated a lot after hitting the pad, but Dickwella had no problems in collecting. 175/6 117.5 to DW Steyn, Steyn's holed out, Sanga takes the steepler at long off, Steyn rushed out again, but wasn't to the pitch this time, he's mishit it high in the air and Sanga settles under it. 251/8 133.6 to Imran Tahir, Tahir has given it away after some fight, tried to whack this full delivery against the turn from just outside leg, it loops up for deep mid off to take it. 279/9
41.5 | 11 | 69 | 5 | 1.64 | 205 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0
8.3 to D Elgar, and another spinner strikes in his first over, Perera now, tossed up on middle, straightens, bounces, Elgar again not sure whether to go forward or back, pushes uncertainly forward, by then the ball has gained plenty of height, an inside edge pops up in front of short leg, and he dives forward to take a sharp catch. 13/2 68.4 to AB de Villiers, they have succeeded with this round the stumps line, one has finally turned enough to beat the batsman, AB pushes forward to defend, misses as a full delivery spins in past the inside edge, is struck in line, that pitched on off, and ball tracker says it is hitting leg, he was given right away by umpire Llong, and AB's review is in vain. 150/4 68.6 to Q de Kock, and here goes another, it was always going to be different for the left handers, de Kock understandably uncertain so early in his innings, feet stuck on the crease, Perera tossed it up on off, found some drift in, then straightened it past the push, strikes off stump, and Sri Lanka surge. 150/5 98.2 to VD Philander, right through him, Perera with another wicket, lots of turn on this, flighted and angled across full from round the stumps, Philander leaves a big gap between bat and pad as he pushes weakly, it sneaks through to hit off. 204/7 134.5 to M Morkel, Morkel goes first ball, Amla is stranded, Perera has his fifth, full and angled in, Morkel pushes forward, short leg snaps up the inside edge to his left. 282/10

10.2 to WU Tharanga, Tharanga's had one edge too many, he is eager to drive again as Steyn pitches it up around off, it then jags further away to take a thin edge through to the keeper. 38/1 47.6 to N Dickwella, backs away outside leg and has a swing at a sharp short ball, AB runs to his left from midwicket, and takes the top edge. 203/6

22.4 to DPMD Jayawardene, Mahela is reviewing, he reverse swept from outside leg stump, the ball popped up, Elgar rushed across from short leg, took it, and crashed into de Kock who had come forward as well, this seems to have clipped just at the start of the glove, below the wrist, or is it the bottom of the arm guard, umpire Llong thought it was glove, umpire Bowden seems to agree with him, for the finger is raised again, and Mahela walks back shaking his head. 83/3 50.2 to MDK Perera, Perera makes room outside leg and has a crack at this tossed up ball, misses it, and it crashes into middle. 214/7

21.1 to JK Silva, Silva's gone against the run of play, he's reached out a long way to get to this wide length delivery, and has scooped a drive to point, who tumbles forward to take it, Morne is happy, that was a slow cutter. 82/2 39.6 to KC Sangakkara, no celebration from keeper or bowler, but a thin edge has been produced and snapped up, Sanga made lots of room outside leg and flayed at this one leaving him. 164/4 41.6 to KDK Vithanage, that is an outstanding take, Faf the man running back from point, Vithanage has a swing at a pitched up ball, skies it, three men converge on it, third man and sweeper cover in addition to Faf, but he gets there first, and even dives to pull off a stunner. 174/5 53.4 to HMRKB Herath, Herath holes out, clears front leg and has a slog, midwicket settles under it, and that brings the declaration. 229/8

8.1 to AN Petersen, Herath strikes, he tosses it up, it grips and turns a bit, all Petersen has been doing is leaning out and pushing, he does the same and this carries to silly point. 4/1 38.4 to Q de Kock, that ends de Kock's resistance, he lunged forward outside off, it hit the rough and jagged in, de Kock tried to play it down with a closed face, it brushed the glove, took the pad and popped up to backward short leg, he battled well, but it takes only one to do slightly more than expected. 68/3 63.1 to AB de Villiers, The Rrrrangannna!!! Superb first ball takes AB out! This is slow, loopy, drifts and dips, spins from the surface, just enough to beat the bat and takes out the off stump. AB, who doesn't really push forward, plays down the wrong line and is made to look like a tailender. That is a corker! However, someone with a bigger stride would have handled that much better. AB was almost playing it from the crease. 93/4 78.4 to F du Plessis, another one, Rangana Herath again, tossed up, good length, pitches middle and off, Faf forward to defend, it jags away, takes the edge and Mahela Jayawardene pouches catch No 200 at slip, low to his left, he is pumped up. 110/6 102.5 to DW Steyn, the changed angle has worked immediately, Herath has his fifth, tossed up, pitching outside leg, spinning and bouncing across, Steyn pushes forward, thin edge through to the keeper. 148/8

21.3 to D Elgar, right after the break, Perera has given Sri Lanka the breakthrough, Elgar shuffling across on the crease, this angles in from round the stumps, pitches middle and zips past an uncertain prod to strike off. 47/2 74.1 to HM Amla, they have the big one, Mahela takes this at slip and runs towards the boundary, tossed up high and full, Amla has resisted driving at these till now, probably the state of his leg, probably he is tired, but he has a go at the drive, and Mahela has not built up that record at slip for nothing, he snaps up a sharp chance. 105/5 93.4 to JP Duminy, that looks a goner, and it is, umpire Kettleborough upholds a long appeal, Perera with the breakthrough right at the start of the final hour, South Africa review, that came in with the angle from round the wicket, did not turn, Duminy's defensive bat was still on its way down on the forward push when the ball smacked into pad in front of middle, that is hitting leg close to the top, and Duminy is gone. 130/7
