Educated at Marlborough (176 and 98 v Rugby at Lord's, 1935). Cambridge University (Blue 1938), 187 runs (20.78), HS 88 v Hants (Southampton); 20 wkts (36.25), BB 6 for 91 v Oxford Univ in 1938 Varsity match, bowling offspin round wicket to four short legs. Also played for Berkshire. Latterly amateur golf administrator. Also won cricket and hockey Blues at Cambridge, and a half-Blue in billiards. Was MiD in war and finished as major in RHA. Headmaster of Cranbrook School, Sydney 1950-62 and of Allhallows 1965-74 after teaching at Winchester and Charterhouse.
