Fred French

Fred French was a professional at Toronto CC who not only played but was also caretaker, groundsman and cook. He also appears to have been a diplomat, as it is recorded that when bowling at members in the nets he used to serve up juicyt leg-side long hops for them to belt. He played twice for Canada against USA, taking five wickets in the inaugural game in 1844.
