Richard De Souza has been described as one of the best Trinidad players never to play for West Indies, and the statistics tend to back that argument. Over six seasons he consistently averaged over 40, but he was a large man and it was felt that his size and lack of agility counted against him. He became the Trinidad & Tobago board's treasurer in 1981, remaining until 2005 and was also for a time of the board of the WICB.
