Arthur Johnson was a middle-order batsman who played a few games for Middlesex on trial in 1886 and 1887 before turning out for Essex between 1890 and 1896. His only score of over fifty came in his last outing in 1895 when his 63 was his side's highest in a remarkable win over Yorkshire. His club cricket was with Hampstead and he was a member of the London Corn Exchange.
